Who are you connecting with when you reach out to us?
It’s me. Lana (LAY_NA), the heart & soul behind Sunflower Events.
With over 20 years in hospitality and event management, my work is rooted in connection, creativity, and a genuine love for celebrating others.
I founded Sunflower Events in 2022 with a simple intention: to create meaningful connection by bringing people together through Maine’s rich heritage of food, music, and scenic views in celebration of life’s most meaningful moments. Today, we create and celebrate events thoughtfully designed to feel intentional, memorable, and talked about long after the day is done.
That appreciation for connection doesn’t just guide my work, it’s shaped my life. I met my husband when I was 18 (just a baby, really), while he was visiting my hometown in Northern Maine. He wasn’t planning on staying. In fact, he had a ticket back to Virginia… which he cashed in after we met. The rest is history! We’ve been together ever since, eventually settling in Bath, Maine, where we bought our home, raised our children, and where Sunflower Events came to life.
Behind Sunflower Events
Outside of events, I’m drawn to a slower rhythm of life. Wandering through the woods in search of wild foods, rescuing animals in need (including the time I brought a whole brood of ducklings home), cooking elaborate meals for my family, and spending time with our pets, Mr. T the tortoise and Lola the Frug, (our Frenchie-pug mix).
I also love giving back to the community, volunteering at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath with their special events department, and at Livewell Farm in Harpswell supporting community initiatives and the Dempsey Challenge.
At the heart of it all, I am drawn to connection between people, place, and story. I would be honored to hear about yours, and to create something beautiful together.
